Between us, we bring decades of hands-on experience caring for dogs and supporting the people who love them.
Amy began her career over 25 years ago working in her family’s pet shops before building and running her own successful grooming salon and pet accessories business. Along the way she achieved her C-SQP qualification and expanded her expertise through behavioural training, dog walking, and pet sitting studies - developing a deep understanding of canine health and wellbeing.
Sarah grew up surrounded by dogs and has always believed they are part of the family. Her practical experience in dog grooming environments, alongside managing a busy pet boutique, has given her a strong understanding of both canine care and customer experience.
Together, we’ve created ‘In the Dog House’ to combine professional knowledge with genuine passion - delivering a place where dogs feel safe, happy, and truly cared for.
Why We Created In the Dog House
We created In the Dog House after recognising a real need within our local community - a place where dogs could exercise, learn, and recover in a calm, supportive environment.
Too often, facilities felt busy and urban, unsuitable for dogs needing space, focus, or confidence building. We wanted something different.
Set in the peaceful surroundings of Cragg Vale, our purpose-built barn brings together structured day care, specialist agility training, and a dedicated swim therapy pool under one roof. Inspired by local demand - and with the nearest comparable pool over 45 minutes away - we set out to create a welcoming space where dogs can build fitness, confidence, and joy close to home.

What makes In the Dog House different isn’t just the services we offer - it’s the environment we’ve created. Set within a purpose-built barn in the peaceful countryside of Cragg Vale, dogs have space to relax, focus, and feel at ease away from busy urban surroundings.
